This drawing constituted part of my drawing midterm project for Spring Semester.
It was divided in three sections: small exploratory drawings, the building of our own, physical pile, and the final drawing of our pile. The main concept behind this was to convey a sense of monumentality and vastness with a relatively small object as a reference, and how we could get the viewer to feel the space in the piece.
For the smaller drawings, I made quick piles of ordinary things like crumpled paper and the residues of a pencil sharpener.
Afterwards I created the main pile that would be the base of my big, final drawing. It was a small sculpture made with found objects, which I tried to make them have either an interesting texture or a reflective quality in them, as I wanted to explore how I would graphicly represent this characteristics in my final drawing while still maintaining its monumental aspect.
